Physical Disability

It is really amazing to watch your child learning to take the first steps; most people do cherish this memory for a long time. But what do we do when we realize that our child is taking more time than the usual children to move or walk. This condition or state where a person is unable to perform his normal body functions is termed as physical disability. Again we find that there are various kinds of disabilities a person goes through, we will here discuss some of the important and the common ones- The first one we are going to talk about is muscular dystrophy, here over time the muscle fibers in the body get degenerated or damaged. This condition is also found to be a genetic one.
Sometimes serious injury or damage to the brain, bones, or spinal cord can also cause physical disability in you. Unfortunately some babies are born with a spinal cord that is quite abnormal in shape; this may lead to a number of problems like – partial or full paralysis, bending of the spine, malfunctioning of the bowel and bladder.
Problematic delivery could also be the cause Due to problems in the delivery of a child there may be brain damage and as a result some sort of physical disability. This is referred to as cerebral palsy. As a result the person can have a lot of posture problems as well as muscle difficulties.
Now let us move towards the different causes of physical disabilities, here it is important to mention that we cannot delineate one single cause as with the types you can be disabled be cause of a variety of reasons, some of the common ones are- Due to some genetic defects or problem occurring at the time of birth a person can be disabled; injury to the brain or bones and muscles due to some accident or sports; also some diseases like meningitis can also make a person disabled.
Role of parents Now let us come to the most important part which is the role or strategies of parents and peer ones to deal with such a person. People in whom disability is a genetic one it is imperative to visit a genetic counselor and get advice on what to do in order that this disease is curbed from affecting your future children. You have to be extremely careful when one is pregnant, a healthy diet, exercise and proper care are very necessary for the proper development of your child. And always wear all the protective gear whether you are driving or playing some sport.
